The Institute for Water and Watersheds (IWW) is Oregon’s federally-designated water resources research institute. It coordinates water and watershed activities at OSU, connects students, staff, and faculty with stakeholders and statewide water issues, and pursues solutions to the water and related environmental problems of Oregon, the Pacific Northwest, and the world by assembling research teams from a broad spectrum of disciplines. Over 125 faculty from six colleges and numerous departments are affiliated with the IWW.

John Selker professor in the Department of Biological and Ecological Engineering, will be co-teaching a pre-AGU workshop on measurement of temperature with fiber optics.

Cody Hale, PhD student in Water Resources Science and the Department of Forest Engineering, Resources and Management, has won this year's Horton Research Grant from the American Geophysical Union. This award is for "best PhD proposal in hydrology" and carries with it a $10,000 prize.

Desiree Tullos, assistant professor in the Department of Biological and Ecological Engineering, was awarded a National Science Foundation Faculty Early Career Development (CAREER) Award. She is examining the potential impacts of climate change on river ecosystems and identifying opportunities to mitigate those impacts.
