OSU is home to a number of cutting-edge research facilities for water and watersheds research:

Institute for Water and Watersheds Collaboratory

 The IWW's goals for the collaboratory are to encourage cooperative research; to provide access to quality instrumentation dedicated to fresh water analyses; to provide laboratory training opportunities; and to help researchers minimize water analysis costs. http://water.oregonstate.edu/collaboratory

Oregon Hatchery Research Center

This facility is located in the Alsea River basin and is jointly operated by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife and Oregon State University's Department of Fisheries and Wildlife.  Information gained at the Research Center helps answer questions vital to the success of the Oregon Plan for Salmon and Watersheds and implementation of the Native Fish Conservation Policy. http://www.dfw.state.or.us/OHRC/

 

Watersheds Research Cooperative

The WRC conducts research on the effects of current and expected forest practices on intensively managed commercial forestland on water quality, fisheries and other water-related values. University faculty and student collaborate with private industrial, state, and federal forestland managers at three study locations: the Hinkle Creek Paired Watershed Study in the Cascade mountains, The Trask River and the Alsea Watershed Studies in the Coast Range. The three projects complement each other by conducting research using similar designs and methods, in different watersheds.  WRC funds come from three main sources: The Oregon State Legislature through funding of the Forest Research Laboratory at OSU; Contractual members' annual membership fees, and outside grants and contracts.   http://watershedsresearch.org/

 

HJ Andrews Experimental Forest

The forest is a part of the National Science Foundation Long Term Ecological Research (NSF-LTER) program. The Andrews Experimental Forest is administered cooperatively by the USDA Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station, Oregon State University and the Willamette National Forest. Funding for the research program comes from the National Science Foundation (NSF), US Forest Service Pacific Northwest Research Station, Oregon State University, and other sources. The Andrews Experimental Forest has become a leader in the analysis of forest and stream ecosystem dynamics. http://andrewsforest.oregonstate.edu/

 

The Oregon Explorer

Oregon ExplorerOregon Explorer is a natural resources digital library and web portal that is designed to provide easy, rapid access to reliable, up-to-date information about natural resources.  The Oregon Explorer family of websites brings together several projects focused on different themes. Basin-level portals include the the Willamette Basin Explorer (part of the Willamette Basin Conservation Project), the North Coast Explorer, and the Umpqua Basin Explorer. Topic portals include the Wildfire Risk Explorer, the Land Use Explorer, the Wildlife Explorer, the Oregon Imagery Explorer, and the Wetlands Explorer. http://oregonexplorer.info/

 

The Program in Water Conflict Management and Transformation

The PWCMT is aimed at supporting water conflict prevention and resolution in Oregon, across the United States and internationally through The Certificate in Water Conflict Management and Transformation;The Transboundary Freshwater Dispute Database; The Universities Partnership for Transboundary Waters; and Collaborative Facilitations and Skills-Building Workshops.   The PWCMT is designed to fill the niche as a broader, more integrative approach that explicitly integrates human, policy, and scientific dimensions of water resources within the framework of governance and sustainability, and focuses training and research on all facets of water conflict transformation. http://www.transboundarywaters.orst.edu/
