Lamprey lack the charisma of Chinook salmon, steelhead or even the sturgeon. Older than the dinosaurs, these ancient fish have successfully negotiated at least four planetary extinction events. However, they may not survive changes brought about by humans. At the February 10 Corvallis Science Pub, Jeremy Monroe and Carl Schreck will take us on a trip underwater to see lamprey in their native habitat. We’ll hear what researchers are doing to understand the lamprey lifestyle and what we can do to sustain lamprey and preserve their function in freshwater ecosystems.
  • Forestry Research Symposium Call for Abstracts
The Western Forestry Graduate Research Symposium will take place April 21-22, on the OSU campus, hosted by OSU’s College of Forestry!  This symposium will allow graduate students to share your ideas, communicate research, and celebrate the diverse concepts of forestry and related fields occurring across campus.  The theme is Branching out: Communicating forest research beyond academics. Second call for abstracts is Feb 15. For more information: http://gradsymp.forestry.oregonstate.edu.
