  • Dr. Todd Jarvis Featured in Oregonian Article
OSU Geography Professor Dr. Todd Jarvis was featured in The Oregonian on Friday, in an article entitled: "Bottled water wars: Nestle's latest move in Cascade Locks sparks outcry from opponents." The article highlights recent efforts by Nestle, the Swiss multi-national corporation, to secure the construction of a water bottling facility in Cascade Locks, Oregon. Kim Ogren, Aaron Wolf's PhD Geography student, won the Outstanding Student Oral Presentation Award at the recent American Water Resources Association (AWRA) Annual Conference! Well deserved! Kim is doing her PhD dissertation research on the Columbia River Treaty.
  • Oregon Lakes Association Scholarship
The Oregon Lakes Association has announced their 2015 annual scholarship! If you are a graduate student studying Oregon lakes, ponds or reservoirs and their watersheds, you are eligible to apply.   • NGWA Free Sponsored Student Membership
The National Groundwater Association (NGWA) is currently offering free sponsored student membership for students studying in groundwater related fields. Student members will recieve full NGWA benefits. To apply, complete the attached form, and email, fax, or mail it to NGWA. 
  • Oregon Academy of Sciences, Geography Section call for abstracts
The annual Oregon Academy of Sciences conference will be held on Saturday, February 28, and is currently accepting abstracts for the geography poster/presentation section. To submit an abstract, or for more information, please visit http://www.oas.pdx.edu/. Abstracts must be submitted by Friday, February 13. 
  • 2015 Hydrophiles Water Research Symposium 
The annual Hydrophiles Water Research Symposium will take place from Sunday, April 26 to Tuesday, April 28, 2015. The Hydrophiles accept research projects/presentations related to all aspects of freshwater resources, and encourage projects at all stages. To submit an abstract, or for more information, please visit http://hydrophilesresearchsymposium.org/. Abstracts are being accepted from now until March 6th. 
  • "Dance Your Dissertation" Returns to OSU
Tired of presentations in Powerpoint and Prezi?  Lectures lose you?  Then try a different form of communication about science - Dance Your Dissertation! The biennial WRGP Dance Your Dissertation Event will be held on Tuesday March 3, 2015 at the Corvallis Parks and Recreation Chintimini Park Community Center  from 7:00 to 9:45 pm. The WRGP will provide beverages (beer as well as non alcoholic beverages) and some snacks to get us started- participants also usually bring a snack to share. All forms of artistic expression are encouraged- poetry, music visual art and dance are welcome aspects of communication about science at this event.  You don’t have to dance. 
  • Summer REU - University of Nebraska: Sustainability of Civil Infrastructure in Rural Environments
The University of Nebraska Department of Civil Engineering is accepting applications for a summer research experience for undergraduates in civil/environmental engineering and related fields.
