COMMUNITY WATER ANNOUNCEMENTS

Kim Ogren, Aaron Wolf's PhD Geography student, won the Outstanding Student Oral Presentation Award at the recent American Water Resources Association (AWRA) Annual Conference! Well deserved! Kim is doing her PhD dissertation research on the Columbia River Treaty.
  • CONGRATULATIONS to Benton and Jackson Counties for their successful DWSP Applications
Both Benton and Jackson Counties have been selected as 2015 recipients of the Oregon Domestic Well Safety Program (DWSP) award. Each will recieve a $5,000 gift to assist in the foundation of domestic well saftey outreach. 
  • Southern Willamette Valley GWMA Committee Meeting
The next Southern Willamette Valley Groundwater Management Area Committe Meeting will be held from 8:00 - 10:00 AM in Harrisbug on January 22, 2015. Agenda items should include: latest Groundwater Quality Assesment data, Lysimeter data and update, Update on funding for Fertilizer Efficiency Research and Education, and information on recent effors regarding water quality testing as a part of a Real Estate Transfer.
  • OSU Awarded LTAW Challenge Grant 
Oregon State University was one of four universities awarded a Let's Talk About Water (LTAW) Challenge Grant to host a high-caliber water and film event in the coming months. 
  • Mazamas Research Grant Funding Availble
The Mazamas, an Oregon Mountaineering Organization is accepting research grant proposals from scientists and their graduate or undergraduate students. Proposals should relate to the Mazamas' goals of "conserving and increasing the understanding of mountain environments, and enhancing the safety of mountain recreation." Standard Research Grants for Faculty members can up to $3,500, while Graduate/Undergradute research grants are up to $2,000. Proposals are due on January 30 for Faculty, or February 6 for Students.   • Call for Presentations - 4th Annual Student Water Conference, Oklahoma State University
The 4th Annual Student Water Conference, hosted by Oklahoma State University will consist of student presentations to be judged by a faculy panel. The conference organizing committee is currently inviting graduate and undergraduate students to submit abstracts for oral and poster presentations. Abstracts on all water research topics are encouraged. Abstracts must be submitted by January 9, 2015.
