  • Seasonal Variable Flows Webinar

On Thursday, November 6, 2014 the Water Resources Committee of the PNWS-AWWA is hosting the second webinar in a series regarding Seasonal Variable Flows (SVFs), also known as "ecological" or "environmental" flows. The scientific understanding of the impact of flow variations seasonally continues to expand yearly and those understandings have led to new policy proposals on releases from storage for habitat. • Hydrogeologists Webinar Featuring Dr. Todd Jarvis
On Wednesday, November 5, at 9:15am (12:15 Monreal time) Dr. Todd Jarvis will be a guest speaker discussing groundwater conflict management and hydrofracking for a webinar hosted by hydrogeologists from Quebec. You can join the Adobe connect webinar platform by registering as a guest with the following link: https://paloma.sav.uqam.ca/rqes-gries-eauxsouterraines/. Please note that this option requires the prior installation of the plugin Meeting Add -ins for Adobe Connect 9 on your computer (which you can download here: http://www.adobe.com/support/connect/downloads-updates.html#meeting-add-ins) and the program does not work with Google Chrome browser.
  • Water Diplomacy Course
The United Nations Institute for Training and Research (UNITAR) is hosting a four week course during November and December on water diplomacy. The course will raise awareness about the current state of freshwater resources and highlight diplomatic solutions and cooperation in water management. For more information visit: http://www.unitar.org/event/introduction-water-diplomacy-0
  • New Course Offering Winter 2015: ENGR 499/599 Engineering Design in Low Resource Environments
Dr. David Hill and Dr. Brian Wood are offering a new course as part of the Humanitarian Engineering Program. Engineering Design in Low Resource Environments will focus on decision-making and engineering solutions in environments that chronically (developing countries) or acutely (a location in the aftermath of a disaster) have low resources. For more information contact either Dr. Hill at dfh@engr.orst.edu or Dr. Wood at brian.wood@oregonstate.edu
  • Hydrophiles Fall Rafting Recap
If you missed the IWW-sponsored fall rafting trip, thanks to Grant Livingston you can read all about it! See attached.
