The Conference:

National, state, and local experts convened on December 11, 2008 at the Northwest Viticulture Center in Salem, Oregon for a one-day symposium reexamining the importance of ground water and wells to the well-being of Oregonians.

  • The Oregon Water Resources Department described regulatory obstacles and opportunities.
  • OSU Sea Grant Extension described their efforts at training well owners to collect water level data in areas designated as ground water limited.
  • Kevin McCray, Executive Director of the 14,000 member National Ground Water Association, presented the keynote address on the ground water industry in the USA.
